As more men become aware of the importance of skin care and the unique challenges posed by men’s skin care in particular, the popularity of skin services for male patients continues to grow. To accommodate our male patients, Torrey Pines Dermatology, serving such San Diego communities as Del Mar and La Jolla, offers cosmetic dermatology care tailored specifically to the requirements of men. Laser treatments and injectable products offer our male patients the opportunity to achieve a great, new look painless and conveniently.
Many men are embarrassed by excess hair on the chest, back, arms, face, and other areas. Laser hair removal is an effective cosmetic dermatology treatment for unwanted hair on almost any part of the body. Men who want to permanently remove or reduce body hair can visit with the experts at our La Jolla and Del Mar area cosmetic dermatology clinic to discuss hair removal options.
Laser hair removal can also be used to customize the shape of a man’s beard. Many men like growing facial hair in some areas and not in others, and laser hair removal will target the areas of unwanted hair growth to be treated, leaving only the facial hair they wish for. Common areas treated for laser beard grooming include the neck lips, cheeks, sideburns and jaw line. Learn more about laser hair removal.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a two-step process. The process begins with the application of Levulan®, FDA-approved to treat actinic keratoses, to make the skin highly sensitive to light. At this point, the skin is exposed to the BLU-U® Light, which attacks actinic keratoses, sun spots and moderate to severe acne. Once treated, your skin will be red for several days, and you will need to completely avoid sunlight and bright indoor lights for 36 hours. Notable results can be seen after one treatment, but multiple treatments may be required for full effect.
Kybella (keoxycholic acid) is a manmade form of a substance your body makes that helps to absorb fats. Deoxycholic acid works by destroying fat cells where it is injected. Kybella is used to help decrease the appearance of fat that hangs below the chin.
Kybella is a minimally invasive injectable treatment that effectively reduces submental fullness without the need for surgery or anesthesia and involving little-to-no downtime, making it a wonderful alternative to more invasive procedures.
If you’re looking to chisel your abdomen and add definition to your flanks without any invasive procedures or downtime, SculpSure® can help you reduce your fat volume permanently in 25 minutes. With a 90 percent patient satisfaction rate, this cutting-edge laser system tackles stubborn fat and heats it to an optimal temperature, disabling it without damaging the skin surface or underlying tissues.
