Why Dermatology?
I grew up in Florida, and I spent countless hours on the beach perfecting my tan. At that time, I felt sunscreen was only used by those who ‘weren’t able to tan,’ and a cure for skin cancer would be found before I was affected. When I decided I wanted to become a Physician Assistant, I chose to shadow a dermatologist, and I learned that the effects of the sun include more than just a tan. Skin cancer, age spots, and wrinkling are possible in your late teens and early 20s, but many of the damaging effects of the sun are avoidable. Since I love being outside, I became passionate about helping others find ways to enjoy the outdoors while keeping their skin healthy and youthful.
What were you doing before Torrey Pines Dermatology?
After graduating Physician Assistant School in August of 2013, I started my career in dermatology in my hometown, Pensacola, Florida. I worked for two years under the direct supervision of a general dermatologist helping patients overcome skin cancer, acne and rosacea, seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, and eczema along with various rashes. When I moved to San Diego last fall, I was fortunate to join Torrey Pines Dermatology.
